I was told at my first NA meeting when I entered hydrocodone addiction recovery was that, “this is a simple program for complicated people”. Man I hated hearing that. Everything in my life was drama, how could anything be simple I said. Now I will admit , there is a complication when dealing with any pain medication addiction. Remember that the pill is not going to put a gun to your head and make you take it. Simple huh? Recovery begins with the addict. They are the one to put in the work. One of the greatest efforts a addict will ever do is make that decision to do nothing. To not act on those obsessions to use a vicodin, lortab, lorcet, or what ever the drug of choice. I have learned from my experiences and by watching others that not force in the world other than death will stop a addict from getting high when they choose too.
